The Private Vintage Reserve is an inheritance from an unparalleled collection of Vintage and Rare Whiskies dating back as far as the 1930s and beyond. Having quietly matured for many years in oak casks in the traditional dunnage warehouses at The Distillery in the Highlands of Scotland, this exclusive vintage is selected from a strictly limited number of rare old malts. The Malt Master selectes 4-6 sample casks from the specified year and chooses an expression for its luxurious taste & excellent finish. All are hand bottled, labels are personalised and each bottle is individually numbered and presented in a cherry wood box.
In keeping with its leadership image, ITC Welcomgroup became the first hotel chain in India, to acquire an exclusive Private Vintage Cask of Rare Single Malt Whisky – The ITC Welcomgroup Private Vintage Reserve – 1975. This Private Vintage is an assertive expression of a Luxury Whisky range. This Cask is 32 years old and dates back to 1975, commemorating the year ITC Welcomgroup started its conquest in the world of hospitality. The oak cask has lain undisturbed since 1975, has contracted and expanded, enabling this unique Glenfiddich to develop a strong character. This premium vintage Cask was hand bottled, by experts and a total of 243 bottles were extracted. All bottles are numbered with calligraphy.
The unique Cask is an old traditional hogshead made from European Oak, which was probably brought into the system for filling in the 1950’s. It is probably on its second or third filling & this accounts for the dark rich colour of the whisky and its rich flavour. Most of the hogsheads that are filled are dump hogsheads made from American Oak which would give a lighter colour and flavour to the whisky.
The Private Vintage is a handcrafted product & it’s a luxury, which only a few can enjoy. In India, The Private Vintage is expected to find a place in Wedding Collections, Private Vintage for Royalty
Anniversaries, and Corporate Milestones and with some more luxury hotels.
