Bunnahabhain Eich Bhana Lìr 46 Year
Bunnahabhain, meaning ‘Mouth of the river’, was established in 1881 and built close to the mouth of the Margadale river. It is the only distillery on Islay to produce whisky using pure spring water.
Eich Bhana Lìr – “great waves of the god Lìr”, a phenomenal expression released in July, 2017. This 46 year old Islay single malt marks the oldest release to date from Bunnahabhain. In Gaelic mythology, Lìr is the powerful ruler of the sea who used great white waves to wash ashore his most precious gifts. This expression from Bunnahabhain pays tribute to the waves that envelope the distillery warehouses during the wild winter months.
This exceptional whisky is bottled at 41.8% ABV, and there are just 198 bottles available worldwide.
A beautiful deep gold colour with an elegantly complex nose.
Rich and silky smooth with notes of honey, nuts, spice and citrus fruit.
