Growth in the food delivery business & emergence of Home Chefs got a big boost during the Lockdown. We all had a choice to enjoy new cuisines, restaurants & food from known Chefs ! The Taj Hotels went a few steps ahead of all others and launched a new Food Delivery Business itself, with offers from 40 restaurants of The Taj Hotels - all on a mobile application Qmin. This is a first in India, as a large hospitality brand to launch a F&B centric and delivery app in the country, completely conceptualized and created in-house within the Tata group. The Qmin App, which has been designed and developed by IHCL in collaboration with Tata Digital, gives guests a differentiated delivery experience through a seamless interface that allows them to personalize their order, curate menus, and track deliveries real-time. The App includes culinary experiences, signature dishes from the company’s iconic restaurants, across ten cities offering guests an opportunity to enjoy Taj@Home. Qmin will also expand its scope to launch a gourmet Qmin shop and will also extend to the Company’s loyalty platform, where guests can earn and burn points using Qmin. Qmin leverages a digital platform to address a growing consumer demand for online gourmet food. Look at some ore goodies on the Breakfast Menu ! The user-friendly interface enables guests to choose their favourite cuisine from celebrated restaurants & offers guests flexibility with features such as the multi-restaurant order, which allows you to order from multiple restaurants in the same hotel simultaneously and a scheduling assistant that allows you to schedule orders for the same day, as per your requirements. Qmin has a dedicated delivery fleet, who are provided with mandatory protective gear and extremely sanitized transportation, whilst conducting contactless deliveries. The packaging of the meals is eco-friendly utilizing bio-degradable materials, and with customized insulation boxes to preserve the food whilst being delivered. Later, the Qmin App will extend to cover a range of initiatives and offerings such culinary masterclasses, curated menus, comfort food menus, DIY kits, gourmet and confectionary products and more over time. IHCL is also in the process of introducing virtual meetings that one can host across locations via the Qmin App – curated to suit one’s need and the occasion, be it virtual business meetings or a private party with loved ones. The Taj Hotels have done remarkable job & I am sure this is beginning of similar new products being launched by the Hospitality Industry, in India. I do hope that in the near future, we will be able to add Beverages to this platform as well. That will be a real deal and will see Home Dining going up by a few notches.
