Gurgaon has something new to celebrate – Comorin, a new all-day restaurant & Cocktail Bar. In a first of its kind, it also includes a concept store , a cocktail bar, coffee bar and a market section. Comorin is a relaxed space that encourages communal dining, conversations over cocktails and a well-designed menu !! A first-hand experience suggests that Comorin, which carries a strong legacy of hospitality & a new crisp concept, will be a grand success & will soon be delighting guests, all across India. The first Comorin has opened at Two Horizon Centre, Gurugram & seats 120 guests, with an indoor & outdoor space…and indeed a well-appointed space.
Even though its just been a few days and virtually no marketing, I understand that lunch is running full from the offices in the complex & residences around the Complex are dropping in at all times for a meal, coffee, cocktails or to browse through the market-place.
Our experience at Comorin was exceptional with warm & efficient service, an innovative menu & very well designed cocktails. In fact, the Small platters can make up the entire meal and Large platters can be shared. The restaurant offers a walk through across a market section & cocktails mixers, besides a Tea & Coffee selection.
Comorin is owned and operated by EHV, a part of the Old World Hospitality group. Rishiv Khattar, a director with the company, created the concept and contracted Russell Sage Studio, a leading London-based firm, to design this hybrid space. The design is intended to create a sense of journey as guests explore the restaurant and experience it through the day. “The interior design scheme embodies the unique dining atmosphere and social experience at Comorin, blending elements and influences to create a space that is warm and welcoming, with retro-futuristic influences and subtle traditional touches, as part of a thoroughly stylish and contemporary setting for all,” according to Russell Sage Studio.
Interestingly, the name Comorin is a reference to Cape Comorin, at the final tip of India.
Rohit Khattar, Chairman, Old World Hospitality shared “We are delighted to announce the opening of our 30threstaurant, Comorin, at the unique and vibrant hub created by DLF at Two Horizon Centre, Gurugram. Chef Manish Mehrotra, as EHV’s consulting chef for the restaurant, has designed a menu of comfort dishes and unusual food combinations from across the country.”
Sample dishes include Whole Red Snapper, Andhra Gongura Chicken, Hot Buttered Seekh Kababs, Kanyakumari Crab Claws, Sweet Cork Khichdi, Bacon Bread Pakora and House Made Ice Creams. Smoked Chicken Curry was a delight as was Duck Khurchan.
Dhiraj Dargan, who has been with the Group since he was a Management Trainee, is the Executive Chef at the restaurant. The restaurant operates under the leadership of Nitin Mathur, Group General Manager, EHV.
The Whisky Selection is quite broad-based and priced right to ensure that guest can enjoy their favourite dram and a wee bit more, without having to pay a lot!
Coffee Liqueur, Fennel Liqueur & Dark Khus Vermouth are quite innovative and …. delicious !! Varun Sharma has created some exceptional cocktails & one really wonders at the immense bartending skills in India! The bar also features craft cocktails, including an innovative sous vide infusion counter, a seasonal cocktail on tap and a unique selection of house-made beverages and sodas. Sample cocktails like a Nitro Mai Tai, a Khus Vermouth Negroni, and a bottled Coffee Manhattan, will be featured. Beverages include a Coconut White Tea and a Rose & Bergamot Soda. Tea and coffee is offered at a separate counter, also available for takeaway. The market showcases a uniquely arranged selection of items for purchase: Comorin’s own desserts and snacks, food selections from unique vendors, coffees sourced from across the country and a curated range of tableware, barware, and culinary accessories.
Comorin is a must go to try the Craft Cocktails and Small Platters over a relaxed evening !!
